Summary
Small hive beetles (Aethina tumida, Coleoptera: Nitidulidae) are a widespread invasive species originating from sub-Saharan Africa. These beetles are parasites of honeybee colonies that can also infest nests of bumblebees and solitary bees. We here aim to better understand the basic biology of this beetle, e.g. chemical cues governing dispersal and mating, to enhance mitigation.
