Domenic is a trained veterinarian who developed a strong interest in bees and insects during his Dr. med. vet. research on bee health. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the Wild Bee Health group. His research examines the effects of pesticides and pathogens, individually and in combination, on different bee species, including solitary mason bees as well as eusocial bumble bees, stingless bees, and honey bees. He is particularly interested in comparative research and understanding factors that govern susceptibility towards environmental stressors. In addition to his research, Domenic actively contributes to the teaching activities of the Institute of Bee Health and tends to the honeybee colonies belonging to the IBH.
